Classic Desolation Wilderness scenery, including craggy peaks and glacier-scoured cirques harboring crystal-blue lakes, abounds on this trip into two tributary canyons of Silver Creek. While the maintained trails up both canyons are relatively short and accessible for scads of hikers and backpackers, the mile-long cross-country route over the ridge between is difficult enough to dissuade all but the hardy few from attempting this loop.
The Windmiller Trail is a magnificent hiking trail close to American River - South Fork
Bring all your biking gear, follow the biking trails, it offers various contours like, incline / decline, corners and turns, obstacles like rock beds, logs etc.
Rafting Rafting
Cascading its way from the Sierras and flowing through the town of Coloma, where gold was discovered in 1848, the river tumbles through beautiful scenery rich with history and wildlife. The nature scenery of El Dorado County and the water flowing gracefully down American River - South Fork are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.
